Kinross-shire is officially known as the County of Kinross and is a very small county in the centre of Scotland. Kinross-shire terrain is notable for its rolling hills and green and lush flora and fauna. This is one of Scotland's premier walking and fishing regions, a fantastic place to enjoy a relaxing vacation.

The only body of water within Kinross-shire is Loch Leven; this is a major fishing spot, angler's travel from all of the UK to visit this top Kinross-shire fishery. Often known as the Gateway to the Highlands, Kinross-shire is an excellent place to explore the more northern areas of Scotland from. Kinross-shire has a fair share of British history hidden within its past, the Loch Leven Castle once used by Mary Queen of Scots, and later she was imprisoned within it before escaping across the Loch in the dead of night. Kinross-shire is populated by a whole range of minor historic sites, far too many to document here.

Accommodation within Kinross-shire is made up mainly of smaller, privately operated guesthouses and bed and breakfast style establishments, if you do wish to stay in one of the large hotels then be sure to book in advance as rooms are usually full throughout the year.
